Baltimore County Police are reporting that a man suffered a gunshot wound in the northern part of the county on Tuesday morning in what may have been a hunting accident.
At about 9 a.m. Nov. 27, police responded to the 300 block of Stablers Church Road, Parkton, for a report of a gunshot wound. Officers found an adult male with a wound to the leg. Police said the shooting apparently occurred during a hunting incident.
The patient was transported by ground to York Hospital's Trauma Center. His injuries are described as serious, Baltimore County Police report. Plans to fly him to Maryland Shock Trauma Center were abandoned due to the weather, police report.
Police are in the early stages of investigating the incident, and the Maryland Department of Natural Resources is also investigating.
This year in Maryland, the firearm deer season runs for two weeks, from Nov. 24 to Dec. 8, according to the Department of Natural Resources.
There were 23 hunting accidents last year, none of which were fatal, according to the DNR website.
